Marvel: Thor Mjolnir: With Thunder and Lightning Effect

He’s had many names: Thor Odinson, the God of Thunder, Dr. Donald Blake, Eric Masterson, Jake Olson—even, affectionately, Goldilocks. But Marvel’s Mightiest Avenger is usually just spelled T-H-O-R.

And I got to write about his history in Marvel Comics in this RP Mini Book.

Writer Jason Aaron was kind enough to talk to me for this project. He says that Thor remains an iconic, resilient character because, “the beat Thor walks is so different from any other character in the Marvel Universe.”

At heart, “he’s a son who can never please his father,” Aaron says, which makes him relatable. But it’s his godhood that makes him unique.

“His adventures stretch back in time and stretch forward in time,” Aaron says. “There are whole other realms that he works in, when you get into the fantasy element of it. You get into sci-fi stories, horror stories—I love characters that can work in different kinds of stories.”
